Chapter 1: Surprised

It was a Tuesday around 3:20. Kyo and Yuki were having their normal after school fight. At the moment Kyo was holding on to Yuki's arm in an attempt to defend himself from any more punches.

"Would you like anything to eat Haru-kun?" Tohru asked, smiling up at the white and black haired boy.

Hatsuharu stood up suddenly. "Be my girlfriend Tohru!" he said, surprising everyone in the room. Haru's cousins seemed unable to speak, let alone move.

"Ah! Okay," Tohru was still shocked, and at the time she hadn't realized what she'd just said.

This grabbed Kyo and Yuki's attention.

"Hell no," Kyo said, leaping in front of her, his arms spread out wide.

"He could be dangerous Miss Honda!" Yuki said, appearing beside Kyo, with his arms the same way, overlapping one of Kyo's.

"I'm not dangerous!" Haru said, obviously acting offended.

"It's okay Yuki!" Tohru stared blankly at the wall of boys in front of her.

"What if he turns black?" Yuki asked.

"She'll be okay. Didn't you hear her?" Haru said. It was more of a statement, not a question.

"Damn it all!" Kyo growled menacingly and stormed out of the room.

Yuki just sighed and moved from Tohru to sit in the chair in between her and Haru.

Tohru was still. She could barely process what had happened in the past few minutes. She sorted through all her thoughts enough to realize that she had just agreed to date Hatsuharu.

'Oh no,' she thought sadly. She knew she didn't like Haru in the way she should to have answered the question the way she had. 'Oh well, I'll give it a try!' She concluded, never one to hurt any one else's feelings. She also enjoyed trying new things.

Kyo still hadn't come down from his room at dinnertime, and Tohru was beginning to get really worried.

"Where's Kyo tonight?" Shigure asked, sitting down.

"Up in his room sulking," Yuki said, even though he didn't have much room to talk, he was definately sulking, too.

"Why?" Shigure asked, intrigued.

"Because Tohru is Haru's new girlfriend."

"Why dear young Tohru!" Shigure said, pretending to be indignant. "Why didn't you tell me? It would have been much nicer coming from you instead of Prince Yuki. You've hurt my feelings." Shigure pouted falsely.

"I'm sorry!" Tohru stood and bowed over and over again.

"No, no, that's okay, I was only joking Tohru!" he said, laughing.

'Stupid Haru,' Kyo thought angrily for the ten-thousandth time. 'Why did he have to ask her? She could never have said yes if he didn't ask her.'

He spent hours wondering whether she was actually in love with Haru. The thought drove him insane.

"Why did this have to happen?" he said aloud.

"Kyo-kun?" The object of his thoughts said, knocking on his door, "Are you okay, Kyo-kun?"

Kyo tried to think of something, anything, that would make her go away, but all that came out was an unintelligible grumble.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to come in," she said, trying not to impose.

"Uh…" he murmured. He just couldn't bring himself to say no to her, "Okay," He sighed.

Kyo vaguely thought about jumping out the window to make his escape as Tohru pushed the door open.

"Hi," she slowly walked into his room.

"What do you want?" He didn't want to be mean to her, but he figured that it was the only way to get her to go away..

Tohru was used to him yelling at her, and she knew he didn't mean it.

"Are you okay, Kyo-kun?" She repeated.

"Yes." he stated impatiently.

Tohru looked at him worriedly. He didn't look okay... What could be wrong?

"Why are you up here in you room, Kyo-kun? You've missed dinner."

"I'm just tired," He turned his face away even farther from her sight.

"Does it have anything to do with me and Haru-kun?" She still looked very worried. She didn't know it, but she was right. To her it was just a random question.

"Hell no! I told you, I'm just tired!" He mumbled something unintelligible into his sleeve.

Tohru was relieved. "Okay! Do you want me to bring you any dinner?" She smiled at him.

"No," he told her truthfully, he didn't feel like he'd ever be hungry again. Tohru left, singing, much to Kyo's relief.

Oh Tohru, that's why you should always think about what you're saying. :XD:
